About the Role
A rapidly growing supplier of custom synthesized raw materials and pharmaceutical intermediates is seeking a Business Development Director to drive growth and commercial activity throughout the West Coast U.S. market. This role focuses on sourcing and building new relationships within the pharma, biotech, and specialty chemical sectors—delivering complex chemical solutions that support advanced manufacturing pipelines.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical understanding of pharmaceutical starting materials and a proven background in growing commercial accounts across competitive regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and execute a business development strategy focused on expanding the RSM and intermediate client base in the West Coast market.
- Identify high-value opportunities in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and chemical manufacturing spaces.
- Establish and manage relationships with stakeholders including R&D leaders, procurement officers, and senior executives.
- Collaborate closely with internal chemistry, production, and technical teams to create tailored commercial proposals.
- Lead contract discussions, pricing alignment, and negotiation to secure profitable partnerships.
- Monitor competitor activity, market shifts, and client needs to stay ahead of industry developments.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, client visits, and regional trade events.
- Provide regular insights and feedback to internal teams to guide strategic development and refine service offerings.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications:
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related scientific field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in business development roles within pharma, chemical supply, or related technical service environments.
- Proven success in driving revenue across the West Coast U.S., particularly in the RSM/intermediate supply chain.
- Solid understanding of synthetic chemistry, process development, and pharma manufacturing workflows.
